Bosch is a German multinational engineering and electronics company headquartered in Gerlingen, near Stuttgart, Germany. The company was founded in 1886, by Robert Bosch.
Bosch’s is mainly known in the automotive industry producing components like brakes, controls, electrical drives, electronics, fuel systems, generators, starter motors and steering systems. Bosch also produces industrial products, including drives and controls, packaging technology and consumer goods and building products including household appliances, power tools, security systems and thermotechnology.
The company started in Stuttgart on November 15, 1886 and just one year later, Bosch introduced the first low voltage magneto for gas motors. The first magneto for automobiles came out twenty years later.
The most relevant inventions of the company until 2000 were the oxygen sensor (1976), the first electric antilocking system (1978), the electric motor control (1979), the traction control system (1986), the xenon light for cars (1991), the electronic stability control (1995), the common rail direct fuel injection (1997), and the direct fuel injection (2000).
